Arabella Golf Course
The Arabella Golf Course which is situated in Kleinmond just outside of Hermanus is yet another of Peter Matkovich’s golfing creations. This golf course has been described as being challenging to ensure a golfer’s return yet enjoyable enough to make a golfer not want to leave. The area in which this golf course is situated is currently being earmarked as a ‘World Heritage’ site and maintains a balance between man and nature. The Arabella Golf Course is a rich kaleidoscope of mountain backdrops, lagoon forest as well as coastal aspects that compliment the environment without disappointing the golfer.
Playing the course
This golf course is situated along the Bot River lagoon which borders the Kogelberg Nature Reserve. The Arabella Golf Course offers gofers of all levels a challenging golfing experience. The fairways of this golf course are wide and spacious and both the fairways and the greens are maintained in an exceptional condition. On the course the 9th, 17th and 18th holes all run alongside the lagoon but the par-three 17th requires a precise tee shot. If you miss the green which is positioned to the right you might find yourself on the beach. All eighteen holes encompass the natural beauty of the surroundings for exceptional golfing.
The Arabella Golf Course was voted the number two golf course in South Africa as well as the top golf course in South Africa. This golf course is home to the Nelson Mandela Invitational and ranked the number on golf course in the Western Cape. This golf course was awarded a Five Star Golfing Experience in 2002. There is a luxury clubhouse with a bar and halfway house o complete the true golfing experience.
