Atlantic Beach golf course

The Atlantic Beach golf course is a fairly new golf development that has been given a five star rating in terms of value for money, facilities, condition of the course and the overall golfing experience. The Atlantic Beach golf course is situated along the shore of Table Bay in Cape Town a mere twenty minute drive along the coast to the heart of South Africa's “Mother City”. Playing the course

The Atlantic Beach golf course is a Championship 18 hole Links style golf course with its traditional style and an ocean breeze off the ocean. On cal days you can play your normal shot or on windy days you can use firm turf to play low running shots beneath the wind. Although the fairways of the Atlantic Beach golf course have been widened so much it is still a pretty tough course that was designed to be enjoyable for the expert as it is for the weekend golfer. A decent round of golf at the Atlantic Beach golf course requires a good deal of finesse where a bit of safety play with a lay-up is sometimes a better option.

The par five fourth is one the most challenging holes on the Atlantic Beach golf course with this blind tee shot. If the day is clear it is suggested that you aim for the Lions Head just to the left of the cable station on Table Mountain. You might however be distracted as you tee of with the magnificent views of Table Bay and Robben Island in the distance. The par four tenth is just about straight so aim for the center of the ridge and at all costs miss the large quarry on the left. The area to the left of the fairway was an old sand mine.

The par five fifteenth is a long hole that heads back home, with an undulating fairway that has been described as having “more curves than Raquel Welch.” This fairway is wide open and has a good tail wind that could get you up or close for 2. The slopes on the green are quite severe and if your ball lands on the wrong position you are in for a nasty surprise.

The multi-million dollar clubhouse at Atlantic Beach golf course affords members and guests breathtaking views of a spectacular scenery including some of Cape Town's famous landmarks such as Table Bay, Robben Island, Cape Town itself and Table Mountain. The clubhouse has already hosted corporate golf days and functions in Cape Town, it is only a matter of time before a major tournament is held at the Atlantic Beach golf course.
