De Zalze golf course
Surrounded by views of the mountains and engulfed in vineyards, orange trees and dams is the De Zalze golf course. The Blaauwklippen River meanders through the course and adds to the already challenging water features throughout the course. The De Zalze golf course was designed by Peter Matkovich who has made the most of the beautiful setting and created a course that requires a certain level of accuracy.
The De Zalze golf course is situated within the De Zalze Winelands Golf Estate between Stellenbosch and Sommerset-West, this 18-hole combination Links and Parklands course provides a golfing challenge for golfers of all skill levels. The De Zalze golf course is hos hosted numerous championship events and in 2006 in conjunction with Spier Resort hosted the World Amateur Team Championship where the men competed for the Eisenhower Trophy and the ladies for the Espirito Santo Trophy.
Playing the Course
The second nine of the 18 hole De Zalze golf course is particularly interesting as you can tee off from an island which probably makes this par four a signature hole. The par-five with two fairways is another interesting hole and is set among the citrus trees. This is a challenging and scenic golf course that is considered a must for all holiday golfers of all skill levels.
For your round of golf at the De Zalze golf course you are to be dressed in appropriate golfing attire and in an around the clubhouse you are required to be dressed smart casual attire.
