The importance of having a Golf Trainer
Many people think that they don’t need the services of a
trainer. But golf is one of the sports where most of the
actions are unnatural and have to be learnt in order to be
successfully executed. That is why trainers are important.
They will take a beginner and show them how to progress to a
good player, and they will take a good player and make them
even better players. Golf instructors train you on every
point of your game, and it is often essential to have advice
from a tried and trusted source. They will even introduce
you to things you never knew of, perhaps give you some
exercises to train by, and help perfect your swing so that
remains consistently good time after time. Having a trainer
is nothing to be ashamed of. Even the best golfers in the
world have trainers. Tiger Woods takes his with him on every
single tournament he goes on, so even the number one golfer
needs an external opinion on his swing. But for the most of
us, we can’t afford to get a trainer for every game we play.
That might be stretching it a little and the fact is that
instructors are quite expensive and we may only be able to
afford one for short periods of time. But there are other
options. One cost effective technique is to make use of a
training video or DVD. Perhaps even a book could help.
Regardless of how you do it, golf trainers are very important
for the development of your game and a necessary part to the
growth of any golfer.
If you have gotten yourself a tutor, they should be able to
quickly assess you and find your weaknesses. Now there are
some fitness trainers out there posing as instructors, so
before you get too involved, make sure your trainer understands
what kind of fitness is necessary for golf. In fact some
general fitness exercises could actually damage your game,
so you really need to make sure your fitness guy knows the
mechanics and workings of the complex golf swing. If you don’t
and you get messed around, you could get put off genuine
golf instructors who understand the muscles and joints that
are supposed to be strengthened. A good instructor would
actually work out specific training schedule for your
specific body type. This is a really important part of your
training and you really don’t want to get it wrong.
A personal golf trainer is sometimes a very pricey affair
and could even cost over R500 a session. There are of course
those that are less expensive, but you pretty much get what
you paid for. The other alternatives are a training book or
even a DVD. There are some brilliant DVD's out there as
another option to a personalised trainer. And they are very
cost effective. Most of them go through all the varying
aspects of the game and all the exercises you need to
improve them. Some of them however don’t show you how to
carry out the exercise and this is a crucial part of the
programme. Try to avoid these if you can, because you have
to be shown the correct way of doing things. Go through the
videos a few times until you completely understand what is
being recommended. Do this until the techniques being
spoken of are ingrained in your mind so that you can
implement them out on the field. The best form of DVD
training is the one that offers the integrated programme
instead of a whole bunch of unrelated lessons and exercises.
The thing is that it is very important to have some sort of
input into your game. It does not necessarily have to be the
most expensive, but as long as you get it from a reliable
source. Enjoy it and go get better.
