Pristine greens and African wildlife
Mabalingwe country club has a relatively new course designed by world class Peter Matkovich and golfers are sure to enjoy this course which is in the shadow of the Waterberg mountains. The Mabalingwe Country club is situated within the Mabalingwe Nature Reserve and although there are no big predators there is a large quantity of wildlife.
It is basically a game reserve with a golf course in the middle. Golfers should not be surprised if they are visited by the odd shy zebra or lofty giraffe as the animals roam free despite this fact the golf course is still well maintained. After a problem with the Wildebeest sleeping on No.15 green Mabalingwe country club started roping off the area in the evening.
The Mabalingwe golf course
Although the Mabalingwe golf course is in close proximity to the Waterberg mountains the course is rather flat . The Mabalingwe course is at an elevation of approximately 4 000 feet which causes your golf balls to fly farther which could be useful at No. 6 green, which is said to be one of the longest holes in the country; a 578 yard par 5.
Other tough holes include No. 5 green which is the longest par 4 on the course and an accurate drive and second shot is required if you hope to make par on this hole. If you play this hole at Mabalingwe golf course you should take care for the fairway bunkers as they make the green appear closer than it actually is.
On the Mabalingwe course No. 7 green the fairway is situated above the level of the green and the player is confronted with a view of the green, surrounding trees and mountains. Any shot that is played short will run onto the green.
The Mabalingwe golf course does not cater for pros but rather for the guests of the resort, the course has 10 meters of Bermuda lining most of the fairways and has 4 waterholes.
