Pearl Valley Golf Course
Situated in the rugged beauty of the Drakenstein Mountains in the Western Cape lies a signature golf course created by Jack Nicklaus. The Pearl Valley Golf Course is situated among orchards and vineyards with the Berg River running though the course providing water hazards. This course, the latest addition of Jack Nicklaus’ repertoire of golf courses, stays true to the design style that works closely with nature. Therefore the Pearl Valley Golf Course fits perfectly into the surrounding environment.
Playing the Pearl Valley Golf Course
The terrain on which this golf course is set is fairly flat and therefore allowed Nicklaus to develop hole strategies that entice the golfer to think during play. The engineering and planning detail that was put into this course is fairly rare and it will not be long before the Pearl Valley Golf Course hosts and international golfing event. The fairways of the golf course sport “all season cool grass” which was imported from the USA. The unique drainage system allows play to continue shortly after a severe cloud burst.
The Pearl Valley Golf Course is a fairly new golf course and as such it is not yet determined which hole is the signature hole. However the resident pro assures that it is the par-three 13th where the green is situated on the edge of a small dam. The small dam must be cleared with a bunker which guards the far side. To enjoy this golf course appropriate attire should be worn and you do not require a handicap unless entering a competition. Membership will ensure that you are not only a member at the Pearl Valley Golf Course but also a member of over 100 clubs around the world.
Here you are able to enjoy the beauty of the golf course from the vantage over the 18th hole which the clubhouse has to offer. At this golf course you can not only enjoy golf but also equestrian activities and a first class spa.
